Privacy analytics
Privacy-first analytics is now the default. Actionable is the add-on.
Plausible, Simple Analytics, Umami, and Fathom removed the cookies and the PII. The trade was depth: they count visits and stop. Tradly Memory is privacy-centric and still builds intent, memory, and recommendations.
The landscape
The privacy-centric analytics field
Each option earns its privacy story differently — and each stops at counting.
| Option | Privacy model | Depth of signal |
|---|---|---|
| Plausible | Cookieless, EU-hosted | Page views and referrers |
| Simple Analytics | No cookies, no PII | Minimal counts by design |
| Umami / self-hosted | You own the stack | Page views, events you define |
| Fathom | Cookieless, simple | Page views and goals |
| Tradly Memory (free to start) | No PII, tenant-isolated | Intent, funnels, memory, recommendations |
The principle
Privacy without amputating the signal
The privacy-centric tools proved a point: you don't need cookies, fingerprints, or PII to understand your web traffic. The unresolved question is how much behavior you keep while staying private.
Behavior is not identity
Capturing what a visitor does — pages, searches, stalls, return visits — doesn't require knowing who they are. Behavior-only capture stays useful for conversions while staying outside GDPR's personal data definition.
Tenant isolation is the isolation that matters
In shared analytics, customer data is only trustworthy if boundaries are hard. Every workspace lives in its own tenant — no cross-account mixing, no leakage to ad networks, no modeling of your visitors.
The choice
Pick privacy depth, not just privacy posture
Teams are choosing between privacy tools that differ far more than their cookie policies. The deciding factor is what you can still do with the data: with memory and intent, privacy-centric analytics drives recovery, personalization, and agents. Without it, you're left with counts you can't act on.
Privacy-first, and useful
Free to start: no cookies, no PII, tenant-isolated — with per-visitor intent your growth work can actually use.
